Our Amazing Team
Get to know us below – and don’t hesitate to get in touch with any member of the team if you have any questions.
Director
Justin Powlesland
Justin has worked in veterinary recruitment since 2009, and founded JHP in 2015. His favourite part of the job is working with the team and speaking to the many clients and candidates he’s become friends with over the years.
He loves working in the industry, but admits he’d make a rubbish vet or nurse – he’s too squeamish! Outside work he loves sport, especially golf, which he plays most weeks, and football, in which he coaches one of his two son’s youth teams.
Recruitment Manager
Kameron Powell
Kamz joined the team in 2017 and works on both locum and permanent positions, particularly enjoying being able to positively influence candidates’ careers. He has two cats, Lava and Rocky, who spend most of their time at the foot of his bed.
When not at work he is most likely to be found in a swimming pool, and he has represented Great Britain at European competitions in water polo. He also enjoys socialising over a cold beer or two.
Recruitment Manager
Joe Godwin
Joe has been working at JHP since 2018 and really enjoys the fast-paced nature of the role and the relationships he gets to build with both clients and candidates.
Outside of the office, he loves the outdoors, and he is a very keen cyclist, racing for his local club. On weekends he can usually be found somewhere outside, walking or riding.
His dream hire would be Robert Downey Jr – because who wouldn’t want to meet Iron Man?
Senior Recruitment Consultant
Chloe Abbott
Chloe joined the team in 2021 after leaving the property industry and thoroughly enjoys the role, getting to know veterinary professionals throughout the country. She has a cheeky-chappy German shepherd, Duke, who loves walks on the beach and steak dinners. Outside work, she enjoys brunch with friends – preferably bottomless – reading and travelling.
If she could place any candidate into a practice it would be Kristen Bell who, as the narrator of Gossip Girl, should be well placed to share any in-practice goss!
Recruitment Consultant
Sean Durkin
Sean joined the team in 2022 and enjoys the fast paced nature of the work – no time for clock watching – and the satisfaction of helping candidates to find roles.
At home he has Lloyd the posh, spoiled cocker spaniel, who he likes to imagine wearing a monocle and smoking jacket. He likes to spend his time watching and playing football, as well as enjoying quality time with his wife and children. If he had a superpower he’d simply like to be able to make people be nice to each other.
Recruitment Consultant
Jesloy Pereira
Jesloy has been a member of the JHP team since 2022 and loves the satisfaction that comes with matching a candidate with the perfect practice for them – not to mention all of the cute dogs and cats that pop up on his work Facebook feed!
He doesn’t currently have a pet but he has copyrighted the idea of naming a blonde long-haired Dachshund Thor – so don’t steal it! – and he gets to hang out with his friends’ rabbit, Captain Carrot. Outside of work he enjoys gaming, is an MCU fanboy and a technology enthusiast, so if you’re having any computer-related problems he will be happy to help… for a price!
Recruitment Consultant
Rhys Tyzack
Since joining the team in 2022, Rhys has grown to love working with our candidates and helping them to find the best possible option to further their careers, while managing his own diary in a fast paced environment.
At home he has two beautiful American bulldogs which he rehomed after they were found on the side of a motorway, and which are now very much part of the family. In his spare time he DJs and plays the guitar, and can also often be found walking his dogs around Dartmoor. If he could have any superpower he’d like to be able to turn water into wine!
Recruitment Consultant
Tasha Vincent-Dennis
Meet Tasha, our Recruitment Consultant who joined in 2024 with a passion for connecting professionals with their dream careers. When not fostering career dreams, she’s wrangling her fluffy, grumpy 3-year-old tabby, Gus, and the mischievous but lovable ginger kitten, Harley.
Outside the office, Tasha’s world revolves around music and creativity. She and her husband are regulars at gigs and concerts across the UK, always in search of the next unforgettable performance. She also finds joy in painting and crochet. If she could choose a superpower, it would be teleportation for effortless world exploration!
Accounts Manager
Lydia Powlesland
Lydia has been working for JHP Recruitment since the company started. She is the Accounts Manager and looks after the sales and purchase ledgers. She has worked in an accounts role since 2005. Lydia enjoys working at JHP as likes the fast pace and the friendly team environment.
Outside of work Lydia enjoys going to the gym, reading and spending time with her 2 young boys, who have two rabbits called Snowball and Midnight.
Accounts Assistant
Louisa Card
Louisa has worked at JHP since 2018 and is responsible for invoicing and paying locums. She loves being part of the JHP Team and working in a busy office environment. She has worked in accounts since 1998 – and is great with numbers!
HR and Compliance Manager
Jo Murr
Jo joined the team in 2019 as our compliance manager, and has held similar roles before, making the most of her organisational skills and keen eye for detail. She enjoys the variety of her role as every day is different and challenging.
Outside of work she loves socialising with friends and family, and getting outside walking and cycling – especially with the beauties of Devon on the doorstep! She doesn’t currently have any pets, but would love either a dog or a cat, having grown up around dogs, cats, hamsters, goldfish and even chickens!
Digital and Marketing Co-ordinator
Josh Newell
Josh has been enjoying the variety and freedom of his role with our team since he joined in 2022, and loves being a part of our fantastic group of people. Outside of work he enjoys socialising, following football, playing tennis and binge-watching tv series.
While he doesn’t currently have a pet he is increasingly tempted to invest in a four-legged companion! If he could have any superpower he’d want to be able to refill things, such as his phone battery, his petrol tank… or his bank balance!
