A well‑regarded independent small animal practice in Surrey is seeking an experienced Locum Veterinary Surgeon for an ongoing booking, with the potential for a permanent role for the right person. This is a friendly practice with a loyal client base, strong clinical standards and a supportive working environment.
The Role The practice is ideally looking for cover three days per week — Monday, Tuesday and Friday — with Tuesday being sole charge. The caseload is varied, with a balance of consulting and surgery, and the start date can be flexible. Additional days may become available later in the year due to planned expansion.
Typical weekly structure:
- Monday: Operating 9am–12/1pm, break, then consulting 4pm–6pm
- Tuesday: Consulting 9am–11am, one operation possible, break, then consulting 4pm–6pm (sole charge)
- Friday: Operating 9am–12/1pm, break, then consulting 4pm–6pm
- More days likely available from December
A confident ultrasonographer would be an advantage but is not essential.
Person Specification
- Experienced small animal vet
- Confident surgically and medically
- Comfortable with sole charge
- Excellent client communication and rapport
- Strong references or positive feedback from previous placements
- Ideally based within reasonable commuting distance (practice has onsite parking and good public transport links)
