We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Veterinary Surgeon to join a well-established, independent, vet-owned RCVS-accredited small animal hospital in South Wales.
This is an excellent opportunity for a senior clinician who enjoys high-quality first opinion practice, emergency care, mentoring colleagues, and helping develop the next generation of Veterinary Surgeons. The role offers genuine flexibility and can be tailored to suit candidates seeking either a first on-call position or a senior back-up role.
You will be joining a supportive hospital led by Advanced Practitioners in Small Animal Surgery and Feline Medicine, with a strong focus on clinical excellence, learning, and professional development.
Key features of the role:
- Salary between £40,000 and £65,000 depending on experience

Role options include:
Senior Back-Up Role
- 4-day week
- 8-hour shifts
- 1 in 4 weekend mornings caring for inpatients
- 1 in 4 second on-call rota
First On-Call Role
- 5-day working pattern
- 7 nights on-call followed by 7 recovery days
- 2 weekend mornings within an 11-week rota
- Supported by experienced senior colleagues
The hospital provides its own out-of-hours service, allowing excellent continuity of care for patients. There is 24/7 support from on-site RVNs and Student Veterinary Nurses, with senior assistance available for complex cases.
