A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a recently qualified Veterinary Surgeon (1 year post‑grad experience or more) to join a progressive, independent small animal practice in Northamptonshire. This role is ideal for a confident, people‑focused vet who values continuity, autonomy and genuine career development.

The Practice This family‑owned practice is known for its strong ethos, supportive culture and commitment to exceptional client and case continuity. Clients are matched to “their” vet, ensuring long‑term relationships and consistent clinical oversight.

You’ll be joining a friendly team of:

  • 5 Vets
  • 5 Nurses
  • Additional support staff

The practice environment is modern, spacious and designed to feel welcoming and homely for clients while providing bright, well‑equipped clinical areas for the team.

Facilities include:

  • Cat and dog kennels
  • Laparoscopy
  • Digital DR x‑ray
  • Dental x‑ray
  • Ultrasound
  • Fully equipped theatre
  • Veterinary Nurse Training Centre

A new purpose‑built facility is also in development, with investment in equipment and services aligned to the team’s clinical interests.

The Role This is a hands‑on GP role with guaranteed case continuity and full clinical autonomy. You’ll work from your own consult room and be supported to develop your skills at your own pace.

Key features:

  • 4‑ or 5‑day week (flexible)
  • 1 in 4 weekends
  • No OOH
  • No on‑call
  • No bank holidays
  • 15‑minute consults
  • Strong focus on client relationships and personalised care

You’ll enjoy a varied caseload, the freedom to make clinical decisions without sales pressure, and the support of a team that values trust, responsibility and open communication.

About You The practice is looking for a vet who:

  • Has at least 1 year of post‑graduate experience
  • Remains calm under pressure
  • Enjoys consulting as much as surgery
  • Builds strong client relationships
  • Works well within a close team
  • Brings positivity, empathy and a willingness to learn
  • Doesn’t mind making the occasional cup of tea

If you enjoy being part of your local community, you’ll appreciate the practice’s partnerships with local animal charities.

Salary & Benefits

  • £45,000–£50,000 depending on experience
  • Up to 20% of salary as an annual bonus (not sales‑based)
  • Guaranteed first‑year bonus
  • Relocation package available
  • Pension
  • Private healthcare
  • Paid CPD and certificate training
  • Cost‑price personal pet care
  • Paid RCVS and VDS fees
  • Enhanced maternity pay
  • Childcare support up to age 3
  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays
  • Regular team outings (spa days, horse racing, karting, casino nights)
  • Clear progression pathways, including Clinical Director or leading your own branch

If you’re looking for a role where you can grow, be valued and build long‑term client relationships, this could be the perfect next step.
