A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a positive, forward‑thinking Veterinary Surgeon to join a well‑established, locally owned practice as Senior Vet. This role is ideal for a clinician with a growth mindset who enjoys leading a team, supporting colleagues and delivering high‑quality veterinary care.
You will be joining a supportive, experienced clinical team led by two highly skilled surgeons, one a certificate holder and the other close to completion. The nursing team is strong and stable, led by an experienced Head Nurse, with additional support from a VCA, client care team and an RVN Practice Manager.
The practice is a standalone site at the heart of the community, with a varied caseload and a high proportion of insured clients. The team is passionate about clinical excellence, patient care and providing a friendly, supportive environment for both clients and colleagues.
The Role
The practice is open 8:00–19:00 on weekdays and 9:00–13:00 on Saturdays. Bank holidays are worked on a rota basis, and the practice is closed on Sundays. The Saturday rota is 1 in 3, sole charge, consulting only.
Each vet has at least one dedicated operating day per week. Standard consults are 15 minutes, with 30‑minute appointments available where needed. The diary is well managed, with catch‑up slots every 60–90 minutes and allocated time for phone calls and admin. Leaving on time is prioritised, with end‑of‑day time protected for notes.
A set weekday off is provided each week, and there is an early Friday finish 1 in 3. The rota can be flexed to support work‑life balance.
As Senior Vet, you will help lead the clinical team, support new graduates and work closely with the practice owners and management team. With one of the owners going on maternity leave later in the year, this role offers excellent leadership exposure with strong support.
