Role and Responsibilities:

In this role, the selected candidate will play a pivotal role within the surgical team, contributing to the highest standards of care for our patients. 

Responsibilities will include:

· Theatre Preparation: Assisting in the preparation of theatre suites and equipment to ensure everything is in order for surgical procedures.

· Patient Care: Preparing patients for surgery, performing imaging procedures, and fulfilling roles as both a circulating nurse and an anesthesia nurse.

· Anesthesia Expertise: Utilizing experience in anesthesia and theater practices or demonstrating a keen interest to develop in this area.

· Patient Flow: Ensuring an efficient and effective patient flow through the theater suites while delivering exceptional care.

Key Responsibilities Include:

· Collaborating with lead surgical nurses, clinicians, fellow nurses, and patient care assistants to provide top-notch care for surgical patients.

· Monitoring and maintaining anesthesia during surgical procedures.

· Ensuring the proper maintenance and organization of surgical kits, kit lists, and storage. Providing training to new team members.

· Accurate record-keeping, especially regarding kennel sheets, anesthetic sheets, and hospitalization records.

· Active participation in team briefings and daily huddles to enhance communication and efficiency.

· Assisting with the completion of clinical audits to ensure quality standards.

· Attending regular nursing team meetings to review processes and protocols, with a focus on progress and improvement.

· Collaborating with the surgical lead and CNM’s to plan the daily case load and patient flow, highlighting any arising issues or concerns.

Requirements:

· Qualified as a Registered Veterinary Nurse (RVN).

· Proactive, enthusiastic, approachable, and an excellent team player.

· Able to use your own initiative and be self-motivated.
